The Insight of Alan and Lily from the novel Catching Lily
Alan: Lily is sneaky. I know she’s up to no good. She interviewed me in the novel. Here it is:
“Do you have any vices?”
“No,” he said, shaking his head with smug confidence. “I don’t have any.” He stretched out his body and laced his hands behind his head, looking into the night sky.
“Do you cheat being an attorney?” she asked, holding her fist close to his mouth, pretending she held a microphone interviewing him.
He looked at her fist. “No. Well, maybe I told a few little white lies. Not much, though. I lie for good reason.”
“Have you cheated on your girlfriends?” she demanded.
He paused, appearing to ponder her question. Lifting his head, he glanced at her. “No,” he said in a barely audible voice.
Alan: There is more in that novel, but I’m not going to tell you. I blame Lily for this. But, I’m a sucker for a girl with a strong personality. Like her.
Lily: Do you know what Alan said when we were sitting on a bench at the Esplanade watching the sunset?
Lily: Who’s sneaky now? He’s… he’s…. I’d love to tell you more about him if you want. But, I’d better not. He’s awesome, though. I pretended to interview him, hoping I could steer his attention away from me. But, what an epic failure because when he realized what I did…
